How is it that oil prices are at their highest when oil companies are making their record sales?

Geez, what a coincidence? When oil prices have risen so drastically becuase of the ';Iraq war';, American oil companies are making more money then ever. How is it that oil prices are at their highest when oil companies are making their record sales?
Big Oil knows that they've got you over a barrel. There is no oil shortage, so the new reason for raising prices is, Worry. In the morning, when the brokers start trading oil futures, one will holler out, ';Is anyone worried?'; And if some guy in the back says, 'Yes!', the price goes up. P.S.-- George Bush gave Big Oil a $2 billion tax break. What a guy.How is it that oil prices are at their highest when oil companies are making their record sales?
Resolved answer shows total ignorance of the industry, the product as well as supply and demand. Report Abuse

See, this is why we need to give tax breaks to the rich. Why, poor old Exxon is being asked to pay A FAIR SHARE OF TAXES!!! What has the US come to when a successful (how successful? Well, they're the most successful company in the history of the world) can't gouge the middle and working classes for both their money and Exxon's taxes? It's un-Bushian, that's what. I suppose you want food prices to go down, too, huh. You commie.
Because Texas is George W. Bush's home state and his friends are benefiting-therefore he will do nothing about the price gouging they are enjoying.
and the international competition for oil demand with china isn't helping things either
its called the greed of the rich man
